Green Tea is great for detox

Green Tea Cleanse

Ask anyone what does a green tea cleanse mean, and you’ll hear words such as antioxidants, weight loss, and detox, among many others. Cleanse, the word alone is enough to make you shudder with thoughts of deprivation and something that is not pleasant. But on the contrary a Green tea cleanse is all about adding green tea to your diet, its as simple as that.

What exactly is Green Tea

green tea tasty and good for youBlack, oolong, and green are the three main types of tea – green being minimally processed by using the unfermented leaves that contain powerful antioxidants called polyphenols ( EGCG) which has been proven to inhibit the growth of cancer cells.

According to Wikipedia “Green tea is made from the leaves from Camellia sinensis that have undergone minimal oxidation during processing. Green tea originated in China, but it has become associated with many cultures throughout Asia”

The Benefits of Drinking Green Tea

Green tea has grown immensely in popularity among western cultures due to the extensive studies done on the health and anti aging benefits it provides. Drinking tea is synonymous with relaxing, taking a break, or chatting with friends over a “cuppa.” So why not replace a couple of cups of black tea or coffee with green tea and reap the ongoing health benefits for minimal effort.

  • Following is a list of health and medical benefits attributed to Green tea
  • Weight loss
  • Boost immune system
  • Cancer prevention
  • Lower cholesterol
  • Improve digestive health
  • Cleanse the colon
  • Improve rheumatoid arthritis
  • Improve circulation
  • Boost energy levels
  • Aid in general well being

Its easy to understand why green tea has become an essential part of an anti aging lifestyle.

As part of a green tea cleanse enjoy a cup with each meal up to 5 cups a day, or mid morning and afternoon. Just add it to your diet. Green tea does contain a little caffeine but in my opinion this is far outweighed by the incredible health benefits. I’m a great black tea drinker from way back ( it might have something to do with my British heritage !! )

Since the rise in popularity of green tea I drink on average 3 cups a day. I use a good quality loose leaf tea at home, and infuse my tea in a lovely china teapot with delicate matching china cups. It makes the whole experience peaceful and “Zen” Teabags are more convenient if you work or are away from home, again make sure they are good quality. Like black tea, green comes in a myriad of strengths and flavours, my personal favourite is organic green tea with jasmine.

If you are looking to detox, lose some weight, or just improve your general well being start a Green tea cleanse and reap the benefits.
